Tracer Report

The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) releases a wealth of reports and information annually as part of its comprehensive suite of programs with Australia's international partners.

The John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) is financially the largest scheme in ACIAR's Capacity Building Program in financial terms. The program invites scientists from neighbouring nations to get postgraduate qualifications from Australian tertiary institutions with the aim of enhancing knowledge and research capacity there.

ACIAR was looking to release a report into the efficacy and impact of the scholarships on local populations and soft power ties with Australia. The report contained statistical information from surveys completed by scholarship graduates as well as case studies and anecdotal evidence.

Stitch Communications was provided with a rough and lengthy draft of the report that was lacking in direction and clear, consistent messaging. Key statistical information was often buried, and there was an absence of formatting and design.

Working with the report's initial author and the internal ACIAR communications team, we reduced the report by over 20-pages while adding photos and graphic design elements.

The result was a much more readable report that clearly demonstrated the benefits of the program with apparent links to both statistical and anecdotal evidence.
